1960s Scooters

In the early 1960s, scooters were considered a toy for boys to get around their local  neighborhood before they had a drivers license.  However, today, scooters are ridden by people of all walks of life, both young and old, men and women.  They are being used as a serious form of transportation.

Small, cheap, and fuel-efficient scooters and mopeds have always been more popular than their large touring counterparts.  This is because most people used these vehicles to travel short distances around town.  They are cheap to purchase, easy to operate, and are very handy and great on gas.

Locating a quality scooter or moped today is getting tougher, because so many people are looking to buy them due to rising gas prices.  If you look to the web, you can find some cheap and high quality mopeds for sale.  Just make sure you buy from a reputable seller.  Also make sure you have a plan in case something does not work.  Especially with older scooters from the 1960s, you want a resource where you can go to have repairs done, ask questions, or get replacement parts.

The benefit of buying scooters online is that they tend to be cheaper.  You can even find higher quality scooters such as Honda, Vespa, and Yamaha online.  Another thing is that it is hard to find scooters locally nowadays.  If you see one posted on Craigslist, there are likely tons of other people lining up to see it too.  You are competing with others, which can tend to drive the price higher.

Even with the lower end Chinese-made scooters, there has been an improvement in quality over the recent years.  Plus, they require a smaller initial investment, so if price is a big factor for you, you might want to test out this entry level market.

Your best bet when buying scooters online is to find scooter forums and talk to other scooter owners to hear about their ordering experience and experience with customer service.  The more contact you have with the seller, the better.
