49cc Mopeds and Scooters
Not many people know this, but in most states you can actually drive a 49cc moped without a driver's license. So, if you're too young to drive a car or don't have a drivers license, you can legally operate them. Check your local laws to be sure, but many people buy 49cc scooters or mopeds because they want to get around without the liability of a drivers license.
49cc scooterstypically have 1 or 2-stroke engines, and use one or two-speed transmissions. The features you'll find on a 49cc moped depend on what year it was manufactured. However, these machines are very affordable to buy and operate because they are so simple and great on gas. Younger people are generally the ones drawn to these cheap gas scooters. They are definitely not suited for freeways, but for daily commutes to school, they are wonderful.
