Dear Acmetack, I am 16 years old. I want to get a moped or scooter that is 50cc, something like a YAMAHA, Honda, or Aprilia.  I want to pay for it myself.  I have been saving for quite awhile and will be spending most of my money on this.  I think I deserve it.  How can I convince my parents to let me buy this?

Tell them the benefits, such as the good gas mileage.  If they drive you around a lot right now, calculate how much they would save in gas if you drove yourself.  They find reviews and tell them that the top speed is only 40mph.  Lastly, tell them that you will take a Safety Class before you start looking for mopeds for sale.  Finally, try to show them some  safety brochures.
